The Perfect Recovery Beverage(s)

Do you think supplements are essential? I’m sure you see all these professional athlete’s and bodybuilders consuming concoctions after their training and competitions and think to yourself “if that’s what they’re using, it’s gotta be the best thing for my kid”. But that just couldn’t be any further from the truth...

Context people. Kids, teenagers, and (most) young athletes are not on the level of their professional counterparts, and they’re definitely not bodybuilders. Supplements, especially “post-workout” supplements are not essential when it comes to this demographic

In fact, there are actually a few cheaper and much tastier things your kids should be consuming after their training or games that will aid them recover just as well, if not better

Enter The Beloved Chocolate Milk & Milo

That’s right - a good old fashioned, tall glass of chocolate (or your preferred flavour) milk or Milo. They’ve got everything you need, such as carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in a phenomenal mix. You don’t have to believe all the marketing hype around supplements and “perfect” things to have - as these two household beverages match those supplements on all levels

Some will argue that the fat content slows down absorption and therefore recovery, but this is far too complex a thing to be thinking about with this demographic

Why?

1) Flavoured Milk

  • Rich in a natural source of both whey isolate, concentrate, and casein - meaning that all different absorption rates are covered and all amino acids are consumed
  • Rich in carbohydrates and some sugar to aid in recovery and filling the depleted glycogen stores
  • A natural source of Calcium & Vitamin D to help aid in proper bone growth, bone health, and decreased risk of injuries

2) Milo

  • The Milo is packed with protein, plus mixing it with milk gives the natural sources of whey isolate, concentrate, and casein - meaning that all different absorption rates are covered and all amino acids are consumed
  • Rich in carbohydrates and some sugar to aid in recovery and filling the depleted glycogen stores
  • A natural source of Calcium & Vitamin D to help aid in proper bone growth, bone health, and decreased risk of injuries
  • Added B-Vitamins that help the body to unlock and use the energy it gets through food
  • Added iron that aids in shuttling oxygen around the body
  • Added Vitamin C that aids in supporting immune function & health

Pretty damn good huh. Plus, they’re a cheaper option AND EVERY KID, TEEN, YOUNG ATHLETE (AND ADULT) LOVES THEM

How Much?

We find that 0.5mL/kg works fantastically well. So for example, and 80kg male would require ~400mL of flavoured milk or the same in normal milk with 1Tbsp Milo

So next time you’re looking for the perfect snack or drink for after training or a game, reach for an ice-cold flavoured milk or Milo over anything else. You can thank us later

Go Get Yours,
