A Lesson Young Athlete's Can Learn From The Looney Toons...

Saturday Mornings used to be one of my favourite times of the week. I'd sit down at 7am, turn on the TV, and Saturday Disney would light up my screen... I loved it, and mainly for one show in particular - Looney Tunes... Now unlike many others, my favourite Looney Tune wasn't Bugs or Daffy, it was poor old Wile E Coyote. Why? Because he never quit, and he taught us a valuable lesson that "gravity doesn't work until you look down"...

Brain - The Youth Academy

The brain lives in total darkness… it never see’s the light
It’s in total silence… it never hears the sounds

But what it does do, is react to stimulus… to lightwaves and sound waves… and it transmits these to chemical & electrical signals

It does the same with photons in our eyes…

But our “experience", well, that’s happening in our minds…

And the funniest thing, we all have two “blind spots” in the direct centre of our eyes, where the optic nerve connects…

And yet we never experience it… even though it’s dead bang in the centre

Yet our brain is insanely good at “guessing” what should be there that itfills it in

So in essence, it’s lying to you…

It may have the best intentions in the world & always have your best interest at heart… but it truly is making stuff up as it goes

Then there’s the voice inside our heads that tells us these disempowering beliefs… these self-perceived limitations… it’s lying to us too… it’s our “lizard brain” kicking in…

Gravity - The Youth Academy

Again, great intentions… making sure we don’t get ostracised by the group… making sure that “noise” we hear in the bushes isn’t a predator about to eat us… but again, it’s less useful in today’s society

And it’s kind of like gravity in cartoons…
It doesn’t work until we look down…
It doesn’t exist until we “see” it & “believe it”…

But as you should be beginning to see from above - we have the ability to choose what we see & what we believe…

So if you choose to believe you're not capable - you never will be
But if you choose to believe that one day, in some way, you’ll figure it out - with time, you will

So watch your thoughts, for they become your actions…
Watch your actions, for they become your habits…
Watch your habits, for they become how you “view” the world

And how you view the world becomes your reality...
