Perfect Goal Setting Part 2: Knowing Which "Road" To Take...

So, we have our person who we want to become & the experiences we want to have... but what now? Where does the next generation go from here... A destination is all well and good, but it's the map that takes us there... And better yet, how can we ensure we're trying our best to go "as the crow flies" so that we reach our destination smoothly and efficiently...

A to B - The Youth Academy

Personally, the experiences I want to have, are becoming someone who is experiencing the joy of helping twice as many young athletes & adolescents as we currently are. I’m someone who accepts fewer excuses from myself... and I’m someone who is a phenomenal role-model and mentor to all whom I’m blessed to spend time with

Which is all great, but I'm currently here at “a” and I need to get to “z”...

How exactly do we go about doing that? Of moving from the person we are now, to the person we desire to become and have those experiences we desire to have

The answer lies in working on identifying the skills we need to learn, how we need to grow, and then reverse engineer it or backtrack toward it…

For example, to experience the joy of helping twice as many young athlete’s & adolescents, I need to upskill myself in business… I need to learn more about marketing & sales, leadership, and physical coaching so I can continue providing my Academy Family with nothing but the best

If you seek to experience playing in a representative side, then we look at the athlete you need to become in order to gain selection… what skills do you need to acquire… what strengths need developing

Do we need to be faster, stronger, more agile, bigger in size…
Do we need to be mentally stronger…
More of a team player…
Do we need to enhance & focus on our recovery more

Map - The Youth Academy

This is our "end-point” per se, and now we must reverse engineer it

If we were to look at what will make us get stronger for instance… we need to get into the gym 2-3 days a week, follow a good program… and work consistently hard… we’d also need to upskill our recovery, and ensure every decision we make moves us closer toward our goal

Do you see what we’re talking about here?

THIS is where we currently are, and this over HERE is the experience we want to have & where we want to be…

And so, we must figure out out the experience we want to have, and then work backwards to identify exactly how we get there

And then, we take that first step, we take action….
