You Don't Need To Wait To Be Chosen...

There are far too many young athletes out there today who relate to the following two short stories. There’s far too many with learned behaviours that are hampering them and holding them back. Behaviours and stories that aren’t theirs… behaviours and stories that have no truth or power for them

And we need to begin to show them the way. To open them up to the realisation that their potential is nearly limitless, and that the only one truly standing in the way of themselves is themselves

We need to educate & teach them that they do not need to wait to be chosen. That they can pick themselves, and choose whatever they desire to go on to do. To show them that any obstacle they face in life can be overcome and that every adversity brings with it a seed of equal or greater benefit...

Puppy - The Youth Academy

The Boundary Only Exists in Our Heads...

There’s a dog named Lucy. She lives in a beautiful yard. And yet, the owner’s never fenced it

So instead, Lucy wears a collar. A collar that teaches her that it’s bad to try and go outside the boundaries of the yard… As when she does, she gets a small shock

So Lucy has learned the behaviour to stay inside the boundaries of the yard. But what Lucy doesn’t know, is that the collar is a few years old… and the batteries haven’t been changed

See, the collar doesn’t work anymore. The boundary isn’t real. It’s all in Lucy’s head…

You Don't Need To Be Chosen

Gregg waits on the corner like he always does at 5 am. He’s there, yet again, with Mitch, Dan, Jake, Lucas, and Colin. They’re always waiting…

Don't Wait - The Youth Academy

Waiting for the man in the big red truck to come and choose which three get to go & work that day…

And poor Gregg, well, he never gets chosen. And it dampens his already poor self-belief and confidence

But here’s the thing

He doesn’t need to be chosen. He can choose himself. He can decide his future. And yet, like the majority of society, he succumbs to the disempowering thoughts

And the earlier we can begin to show these next generation(s) the truth. The earlier we can begin to instil in them these beliefs wholeheartedly and help them begin to become the athletes and people they desire to become
