042 - your past does NOT define you...

Dear next generations of young athletes and adolescents, know this:

your past does not define you (in fact, it may be the best thing to ever happen to you - just like it was for me...)

It is not a representation of what your future will look like, and it's not something you should dwell on or keep looking back at...

Take your eyes off your rearview mirror and keep them forward, focused on the road ahead of you. Focus on where it is that you desire to go, not where it is that you have come from. Sure, you can check your rearview mirror every now and again to learn from your past, but do not keep your eyes peeled on it, as it will only hinder your future growth...

You should aim to see your potential instead of your limitations...
Aim to concentrate on your strengths and not your weaknesses...
Draw inspiration from past successes and don't be demonised by your past failures...

Nobody ever got anywhere worth going being held back by their past & what happened in it. Instead, they forged themselves a new path, and kept their eyes on the future and becoming the person they aspired to become

Actionable Tips + Questions:

  • What part of my past do I keep using to hold myself back, to let myself off the hook, and keep me from moving forward? What part do I need to accept and break free from, knowing well & good that I can move past it and forge a new future for myself?
  • Once identified, what are 1-3 steps I can take TODAY or THIS WEEK to begin moving forward?
